[FIXED] Where is plot viewer with the updated jupyter notebook (June 30, 2021)

Issue

I used to use the plot viewer feature in vs code's jupyter notebook quite a bit. In the updated design, the little logo does not show up in the top left corner for matplotlib figures anymore. How do you view a high res pdf version of matplotlib figures?

Solution

I'm a developer on this extension. The plot viewer has not yet been implemented for the new native notebooks interface. We are planning to add it back for the August release, but in the meantime you can manually switch back to the old UI with plot viewer support by following the instructions here.
